We are a small urban cottage industry in Detroit, Michigan.
We are both artists, painters and craftsmen
On the Galley Page we will be running monthly exhibitions of our work
As the Detroit Clay Co grows, so does our passion for the discoveries and properties of clay.

- Pottery and Planters, wheel thrown
- Gift Tiles, original designs and handpressed
- Mosaics, tiles and concrete with hanger on the back
- Terracotta clay is used for the majority of the work.
- The firings bring out the iron in the clay body.
- Each piece is fired to 2,300 degrees
- You can bake in the bowls
We use ours as fruit bowls or salad bowls
The planters look great either by themselves or with plants in them.
They look great on a table !
One of a kind pieces that can be functional as well as decorative.
All the clay work is made by Diana Alva
- Studied, Ceramics at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan
- Attended, an extensive number of workshops and syposiums
- Worked, at Pewabic Pottery for 3 years in production.
- Established, the Detroit Clay Company in 2004
